A van was “heavily damaged” in a collision with an 18-wheeler

One person died and two others were seriously injured in a crash with an 18-wheeler on Interstate 20 on Sunday morning, authorities say.

The big rig and a van carrying five people collided on I-20 between Lancaster Road and Bonnie View Road, according to the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office. Our media partner KXAS-TV (NBC5) reports that the van split in half.

One person in the van died. The four others were taken to a hospital, including two who were seriously injured in the crash that left the van “heavily damaged,” sheriff’s spokeswoman Melinda Urbina said.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
