Drivers are advised to avoid the area just north of the High Five after reports of a fatal accident involving a pedestrian who was trying to cross N. Central Expressway.
Most of N. Central Expressway is closed, and Dallas police say eastbound LBJ Freeway to northbound Central is shut down “due to a major accident.”
According to our media partners at KXAS-Channel 5, as well as other reports, a 46-year-old a man was hit by a vehicle as he tried to cross from the west side of N. Central between Spring Valley and Belt Line around 12:30 p.m. NBC5 is reporting that the victim died at the scene.
That accident then caused a traffic backup that led to another accident closer to LBJ — this one involving a charter bus and two other vehicles. At the moment Central is closed at Midpark. Richardson fire officials say two people were transported to the hospital in connection with that accident; their conditions are unknown.
TxDOT has no information and it’s not yet clear when the expressway will reopen.
This is the second pedestrian fatality along a major roadway today, following this morning’s accident involving a man trying to cross Stemmons Freeway near Inwood Road.
